Welcome to ShadowCats (x3).com

ShadowCat was conceived to become an on-line clearing house for local neighborhood pets and owners’ information to facilitate the tracking and return of lost animals, or the control of animals running loose, trespassing on or damaging others’ property, or posing a threat.
It is initially presented as a proposal to the St. Gregory’s Neighborhood Assn.

Description:

Through my experiences here on Clarendon with my own pets as well as neighbor’s pets and wandering strays, I have been prompted to develop some sort of localized, neighborhood ‘Pet Watch’.

This project involves posting photographs, descriptions, names, phone numbers, and addresses of the pets in the neighborhood on the internet in a password accessed site such that one could log on, search through pictures separated by species (i.e. dogs, cats, birds) and/or by the block to:

1. Identify unwelcome, threatening, or unfamiliar strays in or around one’s yard.

2. Identify lost or found animals without tags or microchip I.D.s.

3. Provide quicker response to situations by local residents rather than involving city, county or state offices.

4. Provide a local source for petwatchers/housesitters of neighbors for weekends away, business trips, vacations, etc.

5. Promote neighborhood activity, alertness, interaction and unity through the gradual development of a social community of animal and pet lovers.

My intention is to provide this as a service without charge to St. Gregory’s Neighborhood Association members (residents). Depending on it’s demand, growth, and operation, to offer the service to other neighborhood associations at a fee

or to apply for grant funding to continue as a non-profit public service.
Input and assistance would be not only welcomed but encouraged.

Thank you for your time. If you have any questions or comments, once again, I am open to listening.
